Microsoft Outlook 97 Setup Instructions

If you are using Outlook 97, it is advised that you update to at least Service Release 2. This update is available from officeupdate.microsoft.com

Set up your Internet Mail
  1. Run Outlook 97.
  2. Select the Tools menu, then Services.
  3. Any currently configured mail accounts will be listed starting with Internet E-mail. These can be accessed by highlighting the account and selecting the Properties button, as shown below.
  4. To add a new mail account, click the Add button.
  5. Choose Internet E-mail and press OK.
  6. Enter a description for the email account.
  7. Enter your name in the user information area.
  8. Your email address is your username followed by @i.net.au Eg. username@i.net.au
    (Note: If you have your own domain name, your email address may be different)
  9. Leave the reply address blank, your email address will be used for the return address.

  10. Click on the Servers page tab.
  11. The Outgoing mail (SMTP) is mail.i.net.au
  12. The Incoming mail (POP3) is mail.i.net.au
  13. Enter your username in the Account name field.
  14. Enter your password.
  15. The Logon using Secure Password Authentication should NOT be selected.
